Built this during class as a portfolio project and a bit of Japanese practice. Getting ready to start applying for jobs and wanted an example of something really mobile-specific – in this case, a “shake” feature. When viewing the page on your phone, you can shake to get a new 四字熟語 (yojijukugo, 4-kanji character Japanese idiom).
Idioms are stored in a JSON file, data is fetched on page load, and a random idiom is displayed when loading the page, pressing the button, or shaking the phone on mobile.
More idioms will be added over time. I’m also thinking of adding a kanji/vocabulary “shaker” option as an expansion and for a little bit of studying fun.
